DANCE FOR ATHLETES

Did you know that many professional football players take ballet classes to improve their performance? Ballet requires much strength and force, which are qualities that many athletes have. Male dancers train differently from females, incorporating weight training and endurance exercises at the appropriate level. Because boys' bodies are built differently, they can turn more and jump higher than girls. Their role as a male dancer will be to support the female dancer, to lift her gracefully through the air and prove themselves in demanding solos where their athleticism is shown. In many other countries such as Cuba, Russia and throughout Europe, male dancers are highly admired and recognized. Americans are slowly starting to recognize these athletes as well. BYB is a pioneer in offering classes especially designed for boys, and supporting the efforts to change peoples' misconceptions about male dancers.
