Bluegrass Youth Ballet

Classes

Bluegrass Youth Ballet offers Classical Ballet to students ages two through adults, and Modern Dance to students ages six through adults. Classes run from August through May of each year, and a variety of different summer programs, such as Summer Intensive Workshops, Kids Fun Arts, and summer classes, take place during June and July. Tuition is paid in monthly increments spread over 10 months.

If at any time a student misses a class, whether it is due to their own personal reasons, holiday breaks, or school cancellations for inclement weather, he or she is welcome to make up his or her missed class in another class of the same level, or one level below. Students can make up classes any time throughout the school year. Please call the office to let us know in which class a student will be making up his or her missed class.

At BYB, the education of students is the number one priority. An important part of dance education is learning how to audition, rehearse, and perform. Bluegrass Youth Ballet students ages five and up have the opportunity to perform in two to three main stage ballets each year at the Lexington Opera House, the Lyric Theatre, or the Singletary Center (i.e. The Nutcracker In One Act, Dia de los Muertos, Sleeping Beauty, etc). Any student with the desire to perform will be cast in BYB's performances. However, auditions are held from time to time for specific roles. In addition to main stage performances, BYB participates in smaller community outreach performances when the opportunity arises (i.e. Festival Latino, American Heart Association Gala, etc). BYB performs for both public and private schools in Fayette County and surrounding areas, and occasionally conducts dance workshops.
