Curriculum
Bluegrass Youth Ballet accepts students regardless of ethnic background or socioeconomic status.
We love diversity! Students ages 7 and up have to be evaluated before they are placed in a class.
- Baby Ballet (ages 20-36 mo. with parent)
A 45 minute awareness class for toddlers to explore the world of movement. This class places an emphasis on rhythm, coordination, and basic locomotor and non-locomotor skills and it introduces our youngest students to dance.
Colorful and fun props are used in the classroom to enhance their experience and kindle their imaginations.
- Creative Movement (ages 3 & 4)
This 45 minute class meets once a week and captures the joy of dancing in the students. Using playful, creative stories and themes we begin basic ballet technique, conditioning and strengthening exercises and free form and structured group movement activities.
Ballet vocabulary and class etiquette are introduced in preparation for pre-ballet.
- Pre-Ballet (ages 5 & 6)
Pre-Ballet classes are one hour long and meet once a week. The class more closely follows the structure of a ballet technique class, but still allows for use of the students' imaginations.
The class begins with conditioning exercises worked around a creative theme to stretch and strengthen their muscles. Students will become familiar with the use of the ballet barre as well as ballet terminology, body placement, class etiquette and musicality.
