DRESS CODE
For your convenience, we now have “The Intermission”, a dance and art boutique. Dance attire, shoes, clothing, jewelry, snacks and other items are available for purchase within our facility. Contact Ann House, The Intermission Manager, with questions on uniforms. If you are an artist interested in placing your work in the boutique click here to e-mail Ann.
Bluegrass Youth Ballet does have a dress code. Please refer to the information listed below for the appropriate dance attire for each level.
Baby Ballet:
Students in Baby Ballet may wear dance attire, but it is not required. A light pink leotard, pink tights, a one-layer light pink chiffon skirt, and pink leather ballet shoes will prepare them for the dress codes they will follow in Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet classes. However, at their age, they are not required to wear dance attire. They may also wear any clothing that allows them to move freely.
**Parents of Baby Ballet students will be in the classroom with the children. However, parents can wear regular clothing and shoes.
Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet 1 and 2:
Students in these levels are required to wear a light pink leotard, light pink footed-tights, a one-layer light pink chiffon skirt (no tutus), and pink leather ballet shoes. The leotard may be any style (tank, long sleeves, short sleeves etc.) but it should be solid pink without patterned prints or adornments. During the warmer months students in Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet can wear short white socks in place of tights if they choose. Hair must be worn in a tight bun for each class. For safety reasons please refrain from wearing jewelry to class.
Levels A-G (Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced):
These levels must wear the royal blue BYB embroidered uniform leotard available at Dance Essentials (dancewear shop in Patchen Village off of Richmond Rd). Students must wear pink footed-tights (seams are preferred), pink canvas or leather ballet shoes and hair must be pulled back in a tight bun for all classes. For safety purposes, jewelry should be removed before entering class.
**On Saturdays the Intermediate and Advanced levels are permitted to wear any style and color leotard for classes and rehearsals.
Boys:
Boys should wear a white T-shirt, black tights or shorts, white socks and black leather ballet shoes.
Modern Classes:
Modern class is usually taken in bare feet. Convertible tights are recommended so students can roll them up and dance with bare feet. Any leotard can be worn. Hair must be in a ponytail or in a bun.
Adults:
There is no specific dress code for Adult classes. Please wear comfortable clothing that will not restrict movement in any way. Adults may wear dancewear or exercise attire if they wish. Ballet shoes are recommended.
